Former moving company employee arrested nearly 1 year after deadly hit-and-run
A former moving company employee faces charges after the Florida Highway Patrol arrested him, linked to a fatal 2023 hit-and-run.
Ke’shaun Ro’myah Griffin, 18, faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death. The company said in a statement he was terminated following the crash.
Just before 9 p.m. July 29, 2023, state troopers responded to a fatal traffic crash on U.S. 41 and Jamaica Bay Boulevard, in Fort Myers.
Troopers said the victim, a pedestrian, was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. 41.
Troopers said the moving truck, traveling south on U.S. 41, struck the pedestrian and fled. The pedestrian, a 56-year-old Fort Myers man, died on scene.
That same night, troopers said, the Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Division found and impounded the suspected hit-and-run vehicle, a 2006 GMC Eagle Moving box truck.

Eagle Moving has been operating in Southwest Florida since 2014, according to their Instagram page.
Troopers arrested Griffin on Wednesday. His arraignment date and bond information weren't available Wednesday afternoon.
