Former President Donald Trump to visit Oakland County on Friday
Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear in Oakland County on Friday, according to a news release from his campaign shared Monday night.
Trump will be hosted by a group called Building America's Future for a roundtable event that is also scheduled to include Republican Mike Rogers — who's vying for Michigan's open U.S. Senate seat against U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Holly — and Florida Republican Congressman Byron Donalds. Their discussion will focus on manufacturing jobs and the cost of living, according to the release from Trump's campaign. An RSVP form for members of the public to register to attend the gathering indicates that it will take place at 5 p.m.
Building America's Future has held events featuring prominent conservatives and partnered with the conservative advocacy group Heritage Action for America, according to the group's website.
Trump and his Democratic opponent Vice President Kamala Harris are expected to crisscross one another in battleground Michigan Friday with Harris also scheduled to make appearances in Grand Rapids, Lansing and Oakland County that day.
Michigan 2024 Election: Kamala Harris to swing through Michigan several days this week: What's on her agenda
Trump was most recently in the state this past Thursday for an event hosted by the Detroit Economic Club in which he said the U.S. would end up like the Motor City if Harris is elected. "You're going to have a mess on your hands," he said. Harris' campaign launched an ad blasting Trump's comments.
Harris and Trump face a tight race, polls show. Michigan is one of several swing states that could help decide the election.
