Funeral arrangements announced for slain Cleveland officer Jamieson Ritter

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Cleveland police officer Jamieson Ritter, killed in the line of duty on July 4, will be laid to rest on Saturday.

The 27-year-old Ritter, who hailed from Webster, New York, was shot and killed while apprehending a felonious assault suspect on July 4.

Officers from several New York law enforcement agencies on Tuesday afternoon were expected to provide an escort for Ritter’s remains, according to a news release from New York State Police.

Ritter’s wake is set for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12, at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road in Webster, New York.

His funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, at Browncroft Community Church, 2530 Browncroft Blvd., Rochester, N.Y.

‘Painful reminder:’ Flags in Ohio at half-staff

Flags in Ohio are to be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of Ritter’s funeral, Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered.

Family members and colleagues, in a local memorial service on Monday, paid their respects to Ritter, who was a four-year veteran of the Cleveland Division of Police.

“In his years of service, Jamieson demonstrated what it means to be truly dedicated to the safety and well-being of others,” said Cleveland Police Chief Annie Todd.
