Gunman charges and shoots at Gentilly cleaning crew

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to identify and arrest the people who attacked a crew that was working in the Gentilly area. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

According to police, the attack started at 10:58 on the night of Monday, July 17, at the Gentilly Shopping Center in the 3000 block of Gentilly Boulevard. The NOPD also released security camera footage that shows much of what happened.

In the video, a crew is seen sweeping and emptying trashcans in the shopping center parking lot. That’s when a dark colored sedan arrives, and a man gets out and begins running toward the workers. According to police, he was carrying a rifle. The video shows the gunman chase the workers to their pickup truck. Police say he fired shots, but nobody was hit.

After the man returns to the sedan and leaves, the workers are seen finishing their cleaning before leaving.
