Hezbollah vows ‘reckoning’ after pager attack
Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah vowed a “reckoning” against Israel after 12 people were killed, including two kids, and nearly 3,000 people were injured by exploding pagers in Lebanon yesterday.
What happened: Pagers used by the Lebanese militant group blew up nearly simultaneously yesterday afternoon. Most of those harmed appeared to be members or linked to members of Hezbollah. It was unclear if other civilians were hit. [AP]
Who’s responsible: Israel declined to comment on the incident, but the country’s intelligence service, Mossad, is believed to have planted the explosives on the pagers months ago, knowing they were bound for Hezbollah. [Reuters]

3 QUESTIONS
...about ‘The Golden Bachelorette’
The first season of The Golden Bachelorette premieres tonight. I asked Laura Bradley, who writes about entertainment, to break it down.
Lily: Tell me about Joan Vassos. What was her journey to becoming our first Golden Bachelorette?
Laura: Joan had amazing chemistry with Gerry Turner on The Golden Bachelor but left early to help her daughter through postpartum depression. She said she doesn’t “need” to leave her own season engaged, which I found refreshingly pragmatic!
Lily: What might be different about this season compared to a typical season of The Bachelorette?
Laura: I'd expect more chivalry, less petty drama and clearer priorities. At the same time, I’m curious to see if toxic masculinity rears its ugly head in new, strange ways with an older crowd.
Lily: Any standout contestants heading into the premiere?
Laura: I’m only human, so yes, I’ve got the hots for Mark Anderson. Also: fire chief Thomas, who once owned a crêperie. Saving lives + food skills = ??
Go deeper: Here are the contestants trying to earn a rose this season.
