Which are the highest -- and lowest -- rated high schools in Milwaukee County, based on their state report cards?
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's 2023-24 state report card data revealed that 84% of Wisconsin's schools have met, exceeded or significantly exceeded expectations.
The data, which was released Nov. 19, shows a slight increase from the 2022-23 school year, when 83% of Wisconsin schools met, exceeded or significantly exceeded expectations.
The numbers are similar to the 2021-22 school year, when 84% of the state's schools met those standards. The numbers include districts represented by just one school.
Here are the top 10 rated high schools in Milwaukee County based on overall accountability scores on their state report cards. These schools received either a "significantly exceeds expectations" or "exceeds expectations" rating from the DPI:
Whitefish Bay High School, 94.2
Reagan College Preparatory High School, 84.9
Shorewood High School, 83.4
Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, 79.1
Marquette University High School, 78.4
Wauwatosa East High School, 77.8
Nicolet High School, 77.8
Franklin High School, 76.3
King International, 73.8
Carmen High School of Science and Technology South Campus, 72.7
Here is a list of the bottom 10 rated high schools in Milwaukee County. These schools received either "meets few expectations" or "fails to meet expectations" ratings from the DPI:
