ITV announces new cast for crime drama including Charlotte Ritchie
ITV has announced new cast additions for upcoming crime drama Code of Silence.
The six-part series previously confirmed Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis in the lead role of Alison Woods, a Deaf catering worker who is hired by police for her lip-reading skills in a criminal investigation.
Ghosts and You star Charlotte Ritchie has now joined the cast in the role of DS Ashleigh Francis. Also confirmed are Vampire Academy’s Kieron Moore as suspect Liam Bayne and Broadchurch’s Andrew Buchan as DI James Marsh.

Other cast members include The Witcher’s Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, Doc Martin’s Joe Absolom, The Serpent Queen’s Beth Goddard, Emmerdale’s Andrew Scarborough, presenter Rolf Choutan, and Coffee Morning Club’s Fifi Garfield.
Code of Silence comes from Hijack’s Catherine Moulton, and follows Alison as she struggles to make ends meet while juggling two jobs and supporting her Deaf mum Julie (Garfield).
However, she is then “pulled into a high-stakes police investigation when DS Ashleigh Francis asks that she use her lip-reading skills to monitor a dangerous criminal gang”.
“As her interpretation of their covert conversations becomes central to the investigation, Alison is plunged into an exhilarating new world,” the synopsis adds.

“Her role quickly becomes key to unlocking the police case, but her feelings become complicated when she finds herself drawn to one of the suspects, Liam Bayne. Despite knowing the risks and the growing threat to her personal life, Alison can’t let go.”
Speaking previously about the project, Ayling-Ellis said: "When I first read Catherine Moulton's script it was obvious that her first-hand experiences and understanding has enabled her to write a truly authentic character and I knew I had to be a part of this project.
"I am so delighted ITV are as excited as we are to bring this to life and I can't wait to get started!"
Code of Silence will air on ITV1 and ITVX.
