Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama to be in Kalamazoo on Saturday
Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Kalamazoo with former first lady Michelle Obama on Saturday for a get-out-the-vote rally ahead of the Nov. 5 general election.
The Harris campaign announced the event Wednesday morning. Although it did not provide any other details, a website, mobilize.us., which has touted Democratic events, said the rally was expected to run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. It did not give a location for the event.
It will be Michelle Obama's first event on the campaign trail for Harris and comes as the vice president is trying to eke out a win in the general election against Republican former President Donald Trump. Polling has shown the two virtually tied in most swing states, including Michigan.
Former President Barack Obama appeared in Detroit on Tuesday night at a rally on Harris' behalf, along with rapper Eminem.
Saturday is also the first day of early voting statewide in Michigan and the former first lady and Harris, the campaign said, "will be focused on driving enthusiasm and mobilizing voters to cast their ballots."
