Kamala Harris to name her VP pick today; here's what we know

PHILADELPHIA - The Harris campaign is expected to announce Vice President Kamala Harris’ pick for her running-mate by video and text message to supporters Tuesday ahead of a rally she will hold with her pick at Temple University in Philadelphia at 5:30 p.m.

Harris has taken her decision to the final buzzer. The Associated Press reported Tuesday morning that she has made her decision, which will be made public in a matter of hours.

Harris has whittled a list of a half-dozen finalists down to two, according to Reuters: Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Gov. Tim Wal

Walz has become the favorite of progressives, while others in the party have pushed for Shapiro and the possibility that he can help deliver Harris to the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral votes in the election.

Walz attended a fundraiser in Minnesota for the Harris campaign on Monday night. Shapiro was seen playing basketball outside his home in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

The tour will also include stops in Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Detroit, Michigan; Durham, North Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; Phoenix, Arizona; and Las Vegas, Nevada according to Politico.
