Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to visit Michigan for an event in Detroit with radio host Charlamagne tha God from the morning show The Breakfast Club, according to a social media post from the program.
"What up doe," begins the post on the social media platform X. It shows a video of Charlamagne tha God saying, "I want local voices from Detroit and voices from all the battleground states to get the opportunity to ask Vice President Kamala Harris some questions."
The program will air at 5 p.m. ET Tuesday on radio stations that broadcast The Breakfast Club, said Charlamagne tha God in a video promoting the event.
The scheduled visit follows a pair of trips in the Motor City this week by former President Donald Trump and his running mate U.S. Ohio Sen. JD Vance.
Detroit is one of the nation's largest majority-Black cities and a Democratic stronghold. And Democrats hope high turnout in the city can bolster Harris in battleground Michigan.
Michigan 2024 Election: Mapping Biden, Harris, Trump, Vance and Walz visits to Michigan
Harris' planned visit to Detroit would mark her 10th visit to Michigan this year with four of those stops taking place before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
Harris faces a tight race against Trump, polling averages indicate. Michigan is one of several swing states that could decide the election. Trump narrowly won the state in 2016, but Biden defeated him four years later. (This story was updated with additional information.)
