Kevin Bacon to return to Lehi this summer with The Bacon Brothers 40 years after the release of ‘Footloose’

LEHI, Utah (ABC4) — Lehi City officials gave a sneak peek into a week-long summer event on Thursday, announcing The Bacon Brothers as headliners at the Lehi Round-up Concert.

Lehi City posted on social media previewing the appearance of Michael and Kevin Bacon at the Lehi Round-up Concert in June. City officials said their event coordinator Melanie Busath “has been working for years” to bring The Bacon Brother’s to Lehi, and this year it all aligned.

The announcement comes days after the classic 80s film “Footloose,” starring Kevin Bacon as Ren McCormack, celebrated it’s 40th anniversary. The movie was filmed in Utah County and featured Lehi Roller Mills, making the building an iconic feature along the Wasatch Front.

While Kevin Bacon has upheld a long acting career since the release of “Footloose,” his appearance will likely not include skits or reenactments, as far as we know. He is coming with his brother Michael Bacon who is an accomplished composer and musician as part of their musical duo, The Bacon Brothers.

The duo has spent nearly three decades playing rock, soul and country music, according to their website, with some of their better known songs including “Put Your Hand Up,” “Philadelphia Chickens” and “Guilty of the Crime.”

“Kevin Bacon, along with the historic Lehi Roller Mills, has a special place in all our hearts. We are beyond excited to hear the sounds of The Bacon Brothers and once again make history,” a Lehi City statement read.

The Lehi Round-Up is a week-long rodeo festival with a range of events including a tennis tournament, pageant, baby contest, parade and, of course, the rodeo.

The Round-Up Concert, where The Bacon Brothers will perform, kicks off the festivities at the beginning of the week. The festivities will start on June 22 and run until June 30 with the concert taking place that Monday, June 24.
