Former WNBA player Liz Cambage had been dealing with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and its side effects for a while when she finally found relief with products from Hummingway, a non-toxic menstrual health company centered on the phases of a woman’s cycle.

Her personal success with Hummingway products led her to become an advisor and an investor in the company founded by actress Ashley Greene (known best for her work in the Twilight films) and her sister-in-law, Olivia Khoury.

“Living with PCOS and competing at the highest levels has been incredibly challenging,” Cambage, who's played for several WNBA teams, most recently the Los Angeles Sparks shares in Hummingway press materials. “Discovering Hummingway’s Cycle Soother patches was a game-changer. It is the only product that has ever worked for my period pain and it has been life changing for managing my PCOS.”

Cycle Soother patches, the brand's first product, are designed to alleviate painful period cramps, bloating and fatigue. Made with non-toxic ingredients such as essential oils and hemp-derived CBD they provide a natural way to soothe monthly symptoms, which both Greene and Khoury also dealt with.

“I’ve always believed in root causes,” Khoury tells Los Angeles. “Together, Ashley and I began researching the menstrual cycle, uncovering how we could ‘hack’ our cycles by aligning our exercise, diet, and social activities with the different hormonal phases”

Khoury says that they quickly realized there was a gap in the market when it came to non-toxic solutions for managing the symptoms of a woman's menstrual cycle, and they were determined to fill it.

“It took two years and 31 formulations," says Khoury. "But with the help of our formulator and medical team, we developed a product that truly works.”

Getting their product into the hands of women who needed it was important to both Khoury and Greene. Adding Cambage, a woman with a tremendous amount of influence both in the sports world and beyond, to their team proved to be incredibly helpful towards this goal.

“When we shared a sneak peek of her shoot and her genuine testimonial about how Hummingway Cycle Soother is the only product that has ever helped her pain, we saw an immediate impact,” Khoury says. “The more women, especially athletes, talk about their cycles, the more empowered they become to work with their bodies versus against them."
