Santa Monica Pier Celebration — Sept. 6
Happy 115th birthday to the iconic Santa Monica Pier! Marking the occasion this Friday, the Santa Monica Travel & Tourism board celebrates the historic locale serving “Pier bites” and drinks followed by a beachfront evening Street Food Cinema screening of “Barbie,” live music and performances, a photo booth and activations including Jamba Juice’s Sunrise Smoothie Tour, unveiling the brand’s new blended coffees with free samples and yoga sessions in the morning.
'Fashion Statements' exhibit at ASU FIDM Museum — Sept. 6
L.A.’s only fashion museum exhibits essential pieces and perspectives from a who’s who of fashion folk including designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, Jeremy Scott and Kevan Hall, costume designer Arianne Phillips, Dita Von Teese and stylist B. Akerlund at this style-driven look at creative expression featuring ASU FIDM’s archival pieces. From Mae West’s 1940s negligees to a 1938 Elsa Schiaparelli evening ensemble, the display delves into the history of fashion with a fresh and inspiring local lens.

Los Angeles’ Got Sole at L.A. Convention Center — Sept. 7
Lace up and step into this mega buy/sell/trade event touting itself as the “greatest sneaker convention” ever with over 400 + shoe vendors, giveaways, contests and live performances.

Catch the Mic: Paris to L.A. at L.A. Central Library — Sept. 7
This free international poetry marathon (from the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Beyond Baroque, the City of Paris, and Paris University Club) celebrates the theme of “Art + Sports” at the Mark Taper Auditorium at Los Angeles Public Library’s central location. Thirty Los Angeles-based poets will appear live in Paris and Los Angeles making for a “cultural handover from the City of Paris to the City of Los Angeles” looking forward to the L.A. 2028 Olympics.
L.A. Tequila Fest- Sept. 7
The Andrés y María Cárdenas Family Foundation (“AMCFF”) provides scholarships to disadvantaged and low-income students with various events in L.A. and this weekend's Tequila Fest in DTLA is their biggest fundraising effort of the year. The annual event celebrates everything tequila, with a focus on culture, education and tastings.

Ringo Starr and his All-Star Band at the Greek — Sept. 8
Mr. Starr still lives up to his name on stage when he plays live. The legendary drummer, now 84, serves up solo hits and classics by his old band The Beatles, as well as material from his all-star line-up featuring members of Toto, Men at Work and Average White Band.

Slime Museum's Grand Opening — Sept. 8
The Sloomoo Institute brings “the magic of slime” to L.A. Opening this weekend, the permanent new venue has 13,000 sq ft of slimy activities including 500 gallons of cloud slime to walk through and a slithery stroll under “Sloomoo Falls” (ponchos provided!), a hand imprinting experience, a DIY slime bar, a splatterwall, glow in the dark kinetic sand “doons,” ASMR audio installations and music more.
