Labor Day travel caps off record-breaking summer in Central IL
PESOTUM, Ill. (WCIA) — It’s been a record-breaking summer for air travel, and Labor Day is no different.
The TSA estimates that there will be 17 million passengers flying over the next several days. Meanwhile, AAA estimates domestic travel is up nine percent this year compared to last.

Here in Central Illinois, one driver said the number of cars is not the problem, but construction is.
“We’re passing through, the construction has been crazy. So we find ourselves going from two lanes to one lane and then back to two, then down to one,” Libby Kosowski said. “And that’s what’s been adding, I feel, like a bit of a time to the travel.”
If you’re still planning to get behind the wheel Monday or Tuesday, AAA said leaving before 10 a.m. is the best idea. They said being on the road between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. are the worst hours.
