Live updates: Airport Fire in Orange County eclipses 19,000 acres
Firefighters are enduring hot temperatures and rough terrain as they try to contain a wildfire in Orange County’s Trabuco Canyon. As of Tuesday afternoon, the Airport Fire had scorched more than 19,000 acres of dry brush with 0% containment.
Five firefighters and two civilians have been injured so far, according to CAL FIRE. Video from Sky5 appeared to show at least one building that had been overtaken and destroyed by flames.
A huge plume of smoke has been visible across a wide swath of Southern California throughout Tuesday. The cause of the fire, which erupted Monday afternoon, is said to be accidental.
