Alexander Mountain Fire expands beyond 7,600 acres, 5K evacuated

DENVER (KDVR) — A wildfire burning in northern Colorado west of Loveland had expanded to 7,648 acres at 1% containment as of 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Alexander Mountain Fire began shortly before noon on Monday in the mountains west of Sylvan Dale Ranch. Several road closures and mandatory evacuations remain in place.

No cause for the fire had been determined as of Wednesday afternoon. Anyone with information was asked to contact the U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement Tip Line at 303-275-5266.
