Man arrested in Brandon road rage incident that injured 16-year-old: HCSO

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the suspect in the road rage incident that left a 16-year-old with gunshot wounds on Tuesday.

Rasool Abdul Hakeem, 37, admitted to shooting his firearm twice during the road rage incident near 4202 South Falkenburg Road, according to HCSO.

Hakeem has been charged with attempted murder in the second-degree firearm great bodily harm and shooting at or into a vehicle.

“To discharge your firearm at another vehicle is simply reckless and unacceptable,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This suspect had no regard for human life during this completely avoidable interaction.”

The incident occurred when two cars were traveling northbound and got into an altercation, which caused the suspect to fire a weapon at the other vehicle, HCSO said.

The victim, a 16-year-old passenger, was hit with one of the bullets. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
