Man found guilty of shooting Mobile police officer sentenced to life in prison

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A man found guilty of attempted murder after shooting a Mobile Police officer in 2018 has been sentenced to life in prison.

Dajoune DuBose was found guilty of the attempted murder charge and of first-degree theft of property charge in May 2024.

DuBose shot Mobile Police Cpl. Ben Towarnyckyj after a traffic stop where DuBose was driving a stolen car.

He received a 12-year sentence for the theft of property charge.

The two sentences will run consecutively.
