Mandatory evacuation, curfew issued for Zone 1 of Terrebonne Parish

TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government has issued a mandatory evacuation for residents in Zone 1 of the parish.

The declaration is effective immediately.

Residents must be out by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

On Tuesday, Terrebonne Parish officials announced a storm shelter will open on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Municipal Auditorium at 880 Verret Street. The shelter will open at 6 a.m. and residents are asked to bring the following items:

  • State driver’s license or identification card

  • Bedding

  • Personal hygiene products

  • Medication

  • Baby formula, diapers and wipes

  • Power strips and phone chargers

  • Food and water to last three days

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office announced there will be a mandatory curfew for the parish’s Zone 1 starting at 7 p.m.

TPSO officials said these areas include:

  • South of Pointe-Aux-Chenes Floodgate

  • South of Bayou Terrebonne Floodgate in Lower Montegut

  • Isle de Jean Charles

  • South of Bayou Petite Caillou Floodgate including Cocodrie

  • South of levee road ramp on Four Point Road in Lower Dulac

  • South of Lower Dularge Floodgate

According to the TPSO, “a mandatory parish wide curfew will also be in effect in the near future.”
