McDonald's Apologizes After Homeless Man's Sleeping Bag Soaked by Security
Onlookers were shocked as a security guard at a McDonald’s in London began mopping the ground around a homeless man outside, leaving the man’s bedding soaking wet.
Damon Evans recording this video of the incident on Saturday, December 9, calling it “Disgusting behaviour.” The man “wasn’t even outside your premises,” he said in a message on X directed at McDonald’s.
“Do you think it is acceptable for your staff to soak the sleeping bags of homeless people in the middle of winter (or any other time of the year)?” Evans asked McDonald’s.
In a response posted to X on Sunday, McDonald’s UK said they wished to “wholeheartedly apologise to the gentleman in the video.” They said that the third-party security guards involved had been “permanently removed from our restaurants.”
The homeless man, 25-year-old Aaron McCarthy, told The Telegraph that he was “disgusted” by the incident.
“The [security guard] started mopping the floor and kicking my stuff into the water. It was disgusting,” McCarthy said. “I had to leave because it was so stressful, and I hardly slept the entire night because my bedding was all soaked. You can still smell the bleach on my blanket.”
