Bethany Hall-Long
Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long was raised on a farm, married her high-school sweetheart, entered health care and earned a doctorate in nursing before teaching at the University of Delaware. She later worked her way up in the Delaware General Assembly, and then was elected lieutenant governor.
During her time in government, she has leveraged her history in nursing to advocate for public health programs that partnered closely with the state’s legion of politically influential nonprofits and hospitals.

Matt Meyer
Over the past eight years, New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer has built his political cachet at the local level, most recently directing hundreds of millions of federal COVID relief dollars to projects across northern Delaware, including to the conversion of a hotel into the state’s flagship homeless shelter.
He built up his prominence in northern Delaware after a previous career outside of politics, which included doing deals for businesses in Iraq, Kenya, and New York.

Collin O'Mara
For most of the previous decade, Collin O’Mara hasn’t worked in Delaware. He also has never held an elected office in the state. And, he was the last Democrat last fall to announce his candidacy for governor.
Those factors contribute to O’Mara’s biggest challenge in the race for governor: name recognition.
O’Mara – who served as secretary of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control from 2009 to 2014 – said he anticipated such challenges when he announced his run for governor in December.
