Missing motorcyclist’s body found below Devil’s Slide

(KRON) — A missing motorcyclist, 21-year-old Caden Blackman, was found below a set of San Mateo County coastal bluffs on Tuesday. Police say Blackman went missing earlier that same day.

At 1:25 a.m., officers from the Pacifica Police Department said they initially responded to a residence on Keith Avenue for a welfare check. Blackman, however, had already left his house on a motorcycle before their arrival, PPD said

Later on Tuesday, Pacifica police and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office received reports that Blackman may be in the Devil’s Slide area in unincorporated San Mateo County. Upon arriving, officials located Blackman’s motorcycle but not the Pacifica resident himself.

Police officials then collaborated with the North County Fire Authority, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the California Highway Patrol to conduct an on-ground and air search.

Initial search efforts were hindered by “darkness, rugged and treacherous terrain and weather conditions,” leading officials to enlist Blackman into the statewide Missing and Unidentified Persons Database.

During a later air search mission at about 9 a.m., Blackman’s body was located at “the beach below the bluffs in this search area,” PPD said. His body was handed to the San Mateo County Coroner’s office, which later identified him as the Pacifica resident who went missing earlier that day.
