An MAA news release said they purchased 272 acres of property.

The property, which was owned by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Mobile Housing Authority, includes Thomas Jefferson Place as well as R.V. Taylor Plaza.

“This acquisition represents a significant milestone for both MAA and the City of Mobile,” read the release. “MAA will now commission a master plan to determine the best use of this property. This property will well-serve the MAA’s mission and help fund its operations well into the future.”

Completion of the Mobile International Airport terminal at Brookley Fields is expected for late 2025 or early 2026, according to the release.

“The purchase of this property is another step toward the completion of our objectives as outlined in the Airport master plan,” said Mobile Airport Authority President Chris Curry.
