Mom gets suspended sentence in death of son

A Wichita Falls woman will not serve prison time for the death of her 3-year-old son in a traffic collision.

Loreal Celeste Harris, 28, was charged with injury to a child in connection with a wreck at the intersection of Wichita Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard in July 2021.

A police investigation revealed Harris had picked up her son from a daycare minutes before the crash with another vehicle.

Investigators reported the child, Titan Tremayne Pendleton, was in a child safety seat, but it was not properly secured.

An investigation revealed Harris was driving the wrong way on Wichita Street and did not stop before she entered the intersection, according to court documents. Her vehicle was struck on the side where the child was seated.

The boy was taken to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth where he died a few days later.

Harris pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 16. Under a plea agreement, Judge Jim Hogan gave her a 10-year prison sentence suspended in favor of 10 years of probation.
