Motorcyclists in critical condition following crash near Mead

DENVER (KDVR) — Two people remain in the hospital after a crash on Saturday between a motorcycle and a vehicle near Mead.

On July 6, Mead Police Department officers were called to a crash between a motorcycle and a vehicle on Colorado Boulevard near Weld County Road 32. The area is next to the New Thomas Reservoir.

According to officers, two people on a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle were injured when they attempted to pass on the left of a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek that slowed down to turn west on Weld County Road 32.

Mead police said the 19-year-old Subaru driver began to turn and the motorcycle hit the car’s left passenger tire.

Both people on the motorcycle were ejected and taken to local hospitals with life-threatening and serious injuries. Mead police said the two occupants were not wearing protective gear at the time of the crash. Both were still in the hospital in critical condition as of Tuesday.

As of Tuesday morning, no charges had been filed and the Regional Forensic Crash Team was investigating.
