Mount Olivet Church prepares for 108th annual camp meeting
HINTON, WV (WVNS) – Mount Olivet Church is hosting their 108th annual Mount Olivet Camp Meeting.
Century-old camping tradition continues in Hinton
The camp runs from July 19, 2024 through July 26, 2024 on Madams Creek Road in Hinton.
This camp holds services each day at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. They also offer free homecooked meals for everyone at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Pastor Daniel Harris explained to 59News about what sets this camp apart from normal camps.
“People associate camps with a lot of activities and so forth. Our camp is mostly based on a time of rest and to get away from the chaos and the disorder that we find surrounds our world today. It’s just a place that you can come and kind of relax, study the Word without pressures,” said Harris.
Harris also said that all are welcome to this camp and there is no charge to attend.
The main speaker for this camp will be Tom Lorimer of Kentucky Mountain Bible College.
Special music will be provided throughout the week by Shannon Smith.
Mount Olivet is also offering youth services led by One Mission Society missionary, Amber Haasenritter on weekdays at 2 p.m.
The camp begins with their opening dinner on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 4 p.m.

Mount Olivet Camp will also hold a Youth Night to let their youth showcase their talents and some of what they have learned throughout camp on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
