At the Movies: ‘Twisters’ & ‘Oddity’
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — To be honest, the only thing I remember about Jan de Bont’s “Twister” is the cow. Well, and Van Halen’s song for the soundtrack.
But here we are, close to 30 years later, with “Twisters.”
Daisy Edgar Jones fills in for Helen Hunt, and Glen Powell continues his streak in the Bill Paxton role. Well, kinda.
Powell’s storm chaser prefers the term “wrangler.”
He’s all about the show, his brand, and even his merch. She’s all about taming tornadoes.
Yes, she believes this is possible.
At the Movies: ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ & ‘Longlegs’
I wanted the tornadoes to be more menacing in the first to give that “Jaws” feel.
We just might get that this time, especially with film director Steven Spielberg himself working as a producer on the movie.
We’ve got more horror coming out this weekend too with “Oddity.”
There’s a blind medium, an escaped mental patient, and a woman whose twin sister just died mysteriously that owns a shop where a creepy wooden mannequin turns up.
Talk about every box checked.
