MSP: More construction equipment vandalized over Ford plant

MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Troopers are looking for the person who spray-painted a derogatory message about the new Ford battery plant on construction equipment in Marshall Township within the past few days.

The Michigan State Police said the message was spray-painted between late Friday evening into Sunday morning in the area of Verona Road and 14 Mile Road.

The derogatory message was about the new Ford battery plant. MSP said that the company that was vandalized is not associated with Ford.

MSP said there have been several construction companies in the past few months that have been vandalized in a similar way.

The plant, which will produce LFP battery cells, was first announced in February of 2023. Since the announcement, some residents have been concerned about the impact that it will have on the community and environment.
