Multiple people recently killed across South Jersey in separate accidents
FRANKLIN — Police are seeking a driver who left the scene of a fatal accident on Route 55 here.
A Newfield man, 62-year-old William Baldwin, died after his motorcycle struck a vehicle on the southbound highway shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, according to New Jersey State Police. The vehicle, which had at least one set of tandem tires, did not stop.
Baldwin was among at least four victims of deadly accidents on South Jersey highways in recent days, according to police accounts.

A second motorcyclist lost his life in a Burlington County accident, and a pedestrian was fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver in Cumberland County.
In addition, a Salem man died in a fiery crash in Upper Pittsgrove.
According to state police, Baldwin lost control of his motorcycle while entering southbound Route 55 from eastbound Route 40. His bike collided with a southbound vehicle near milepost 39.2, police said.

The second fatal motorcycle occurred in Woodland, Burlington County on Monday, Sept. 2, according to state police.
Based on a preliminary investigation, James Mansfield, 56, of Beachwood, Ocean County, died when his motorcycle struck a car making a three-point turn on Savoy Boulevard around 5:35 p.m.
In the pedestrian accident, 44-year-old Shane McManamy was struck and killed while crossing the 500 block of Main Street in Millville around 9:15 p.m. Sept. 4. The Millville resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Robert Johnson, 61, of Norma, Atlantic County, was charged with driving under the influence and death by auto, according to Millville police.
The charges are only allegations. Johnson has not been convicted in the case.
Troopers also responded to a Sept. 5 accident that killed a motorist in Upper Pittsgrove.
William Bedilion, 58, of Salem was ejected from a pickup truck that overturned and caught fire after a collision at the intersection of County Roads 604 and 677.
The driver of other vehicle, an East Windsor man, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, police said.
These accidents remain under investigation.
