In-N-Out to open new location in East Bay months after historic Oakland closure

(KRON) — Another In-N-Out is coming to the Bay Area. In-N-Out lovers in Hayward can rejoice because a restaurant is finally opening in their city.

The In-N-Out will be located at 709 Harder Ave. It is located near Cal State East Bay’s Hayward campus. There is no set opening date, but the company’s website says it is “coming soon.” Construction at the site appears to be almost complete, according to photos posted this month on Google Maps.

In an email to KRON4, In-N-Out Vice President of Store Development Mike Abbate said he is “not yet able to predict an exact opening date.”

“We look forward to serving our Customers in Hayward and its surrounding area and are grateful to soon be a part of the local community,” Abbate wrote.

IKEA to open new specialized location in Peninsula

The opening of the Hayward restaurant comes after In-N-Out underwent a historic closure of the Oakland location. That In-N-Out closed in March due to “issues of ongoing crime,” the company said. That was the first-ever restaurant closure for the popular burger chain.

Next to In-N-Out is another one of the most popular fast-food chains around. Raising Cane’s just opened in August. KRON4 went through the drive-thru last Saturday night, and it took about one hour to be served its signature chicken fingers.

Expect heavy traffic and long lines when both restaurants are open, especially during late nights.

Before the Hayward location, local residents had to travel to Union City or San Leandro to satisfy their In-N-Out craving. In-N-Out posted a job application to work at the Hayward location.

Chick-fil-A opens new South Bay location

In-N-Out continues its expansion in the Bay Area as the Southern California-based chain is planning to open in South San Francisco. Officials are still reviewing the project proposal, so it is not a done deal that the In-N-Out will open in the Peninsula city.

There are currently 38 In-N-Out locations in the Bay Area, with the most recent one opening in July 2023 in Santa Rosa.
