NBC’s ‘La Brea’ ends with ’emotional wallop’

(NBC) — Spoiler alert, NBC’s prehistoric adventure “La Brea” has its series finale Tuesday. Fans who are not caught up — be warned — a major plot turn from last week’s next-to-last episode is revealed below.

When the final season of “La Brea” began last month Nicholas Gonzalez had a warning for fans of the prehistoric time travel adventure.

“I don’t think they’re going to expect the things that ended up happening,” said Gonzales.

And sure enough, his character didn’t survive last week’s next-to-last episode.

“There’s still so many surprises left,” said Gonzales.

Show creator David Applebaum had the challenge of wrapping up the series.

“I want it to be an emotional wallop,” said Applebaum. “I think it’s everything that you know, people from day one have liked about the show, brought, brought to a new level.”

A flashback scene between Gavin and Eve is the only advance glimpse we’re getting of Tuesday’s finale because many of the other scenes are spoilers.

“We get to tie it up in a way that feels appropriate and also very satisfying,” said show star Eoin Macken.

Last week’s episode ended with one last chance to rescue lost loved ones and return everyone who fell through that series-opening sinkhole back to present-day Los Angeles.

“When we wrapped, I could not stop sobbing,” said star Veronica St. Clair.

Because the experience of filming in Australia for the better part of three years was coming to an end.

“If we weren’t sad about leaving each other and leaving that place in the Beano, then we would have all been doing something wrong we were, it was a beautiful group of people I’m going to miss everybody here,” said Macken.

Leaving fans to savor Tuesday’s conclusion.

“I think it is the perfect ending to the show,” said star Jack Martin.

The series finale of “La Brea” airs at 9 p.m. Tuesday, followed by “Quantum Leap” at 10.
