NEED TO KNOW
What to know about the FDA's new mammogram rule
Starting today, a new Food and Drug Administration rule will require health care facilities to tell patients who get mammograms about their breast density.
What it means: The rule would help patients get a clearer sense of their breast cancer risk and screening options, as higher breast density can make it harder to detect cancer and is linked to a higher risk of developing the cancer. [CNN]
Why it matters: About half of American women over 40 have dense breasts. Yet, a 2023 study found many women don’t know that having a higher breast density is a risk factor for breast cancer. [Today]

3 QUESTIONS
...about the Harris-Trump debate
Anthony talked to Andrew Romano, who wrote about what to expect at tonight’s presidential debate, about what to know before the presidential nominees take the stage.
Anthony: On which policies do you expect to see big moments from the candidates?
Andrew: I’m sure Harris will try to connect on the economy, especially her new plans to lower the cost of living and slash small-business taxes. Trump has been all over the place on abortion. He might be forced to clarify his position tonight.
Anthony: There has been some wrangling over the debate rules the last few weeks. Where did they land?
Andrew: The back-and-forth has been confusing, but the end result is simple: The rules haven’t changed at all. No live audience. Mic muted when the other candidate is speaking. Only the moderators can ask questions.
Anthony: Polls show the race is tight in battleground states. Will this debate make a difference?
Andrew: Maybe! The year’s first debate certainly did. I don’t expect a wild swing one way or the other — views on Trump are fixed, and Harris is unlikely to stumble as badly as Biden. But small shifts could make a big difference.
