Olly Murs and wife Amelia: Their love story as they share baby news
The singer and his wife are expecting a baby next year
Olly Murs and his wife Amelia have announced they are starting a family, sharing the news with a cute snap of the singer pointing at the mum-to-be's baby bump.
The Kiss Me singer told fans on Instagram that the pair will welcome Baby Murs in 2024. Sharing the image showing him holding up a sonogram picture, he added an emoji of a baby and one of a bottle.
The lovely news is the latest step in the couple’s love story, which started back in 2019 when they first got in contact on social media.
We have a look at Olly and Amelia’s relationship timeline.
‘Meeting’ on Instagram
Olly had been single for a few years before he met Amelia in early 2019. The story goes that they met after he spotted the bodybuilder on Instagram. Snaps of Amelia caught Olly's eye and they struck up an online friendship.
While things were strictly platonic at first, romance blossomed and the pair took their budding relationship off Instagram and out on some real dates.
Gym date
The chart star previously said on Good Morning Britain that he and Amelia first got together in person at the gym. But it seems the path of true love didn’t run smooth.
The pair started dating, but things apparently cooled off, with Olly admitting it “fizzled out”.
Summer love
Olly and Amelia reconnected after the X Factor star had surgery on his knee. The star was hurt in a fall on stage and needed an op, and it seems Amelia was there to nurse him back to health. By the summer of that year their relationship had heated up and the romance was going full throttle.
"After my knee operation, I got in contact, and I was away from this world of showbiz, and I was just at home,” the singer said on Good Morning Britain.
"I had my hair shaven, I had one leg, and big belly - I don't know why she's with me!"
Saying ‘I love you’
Speaking on Loose Women last year, Olly revealed Amelia said “I love you” first. The pair were at home in their flat and she surprised him by presenting him with some of their holiday shots in a frame.
He said: "I said, 'That's a lovely frame. Thank you, that's great.' And she said, 'Oh no, you've got to turn it over'. And I turned it over and it said 'I love you' on the back."
Discussing his romance in 2020, Olly told The Sun: “She’s just a great person, full of love, she’s caring, sensitive, doesn’t suffocate me, lets me be me, loves the fact I’m cheeky and flirty and isn’t trying to change that. I love being around her. She’s one of my best mates and then she is my lover and girlfriend.”
Beach engagement
In 2022, Olly got down on one knee and popped the question during a trip to the beach, making it a family affair as Amelia's mum and younger brother were there looking on.
He shared a picture of the couple embracing on the clifftop captioned: "04.06.2022 Amelia Tank" and a diamond ring emoji.
Posting a photo of them locking lips, Tank gushed: “OMG, Here's to forever with you. Getting to share one of the most special moments in my life with my Mum and little brother."
Wedding extravaganza
The pair tied the knot in Essex this year in a festival-themed celebration that started with a barbecue for the happy couple’s family and friends.
Olly later gave his social media followers a peek at the romantic day, sharing a video that showed him looking tearful as Amelia walked down the aisle towards him.
“Think this video says it all,” he wrote.
“Thanks to everyone involved in our special weekend, a moment we’ll never forget.”
