New Orleans leaders give update on Francine recovery

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the City of New Orleans have offered an update on recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Francine.

As of Thursday afternoon, around 47,000 power outages were reported in Orleans parish. Entergy is assessing the scale of the damage and moving to make repairs with pre-staged crews, starting in the most damaged areas.

People can find more information at the Entergy Storm Center website and can call 1-800-968-8243 to report downed power lines.

According to the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, all pumps are back online. Turbines 4, 5 and 6 are online, and pump outages were reportedly addressed with self-generated power and backup generators.

Residents are still being asked to conserve water by doing less laundry and running the dishwasher less to prevent sewerage backups. All wastewater is collected at sewerage pump stations throughout the city.
