DENVER (KDVR) – On Monday morning, emergency authorities were on the scene at Fox Ridge Road in Boulder County, but it wasn’t for a crime or fire – or even a person.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Emergency Services and Mountain View Fire Rescue were on the scene just before 7 a.m. to help an elderly horse stuck in a 12-foot embankment.

After the horse was helped to safety and bandaged up with what appears to be a horse cast, Fire Rescue said the horse walked to his stall and is now resting.

Wildlife is part of the job of police officers and sheriff’s deputies in Colorado. Earlier this summer, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Renaissance Festival after a bear crashed the party. On Friday, Jefferson County deputies had to lift a 600-pound moose out of a front yard.

This isn’t even the first horse found wandering in places they don’t belong. Earlier this summer, the Poudre Fire Authority found a blind horse in her 20s stuck up to her shoulders in moderately flowing water.
