3 QUESTIONS
...about run clubs
Anthony talked to Yahoo wellness writer Kaitlin Reilly, who reported on the rise of run clubs, about why the groups have become so popular.
Anthony: Catch me up, when did run clubs become popular and why?
Kaitlin: Through my reporting, I heard from people who joined run clubs to socialize outdoors during the pandemic. But now, people join clubs based on interests beyond running, from meeting fellow singles to meeting fellow recovering addicts.
Anthony: Do you have to be a dedicated runner in order to join these clubs?
Kaitlin: No! In fact, I even found one called the Slow AF Run Club, which emphasizes pressure-free running. That’s a run club I’d want to join! You can train for a marathon or just drop in.
Anthony: What are some of the benefits to joining a run club?
Kaitlin: Where do I begin? Running has amazing health benefits, physically and mentally. Plus, having friends is vital to mental health.
