Rehoboth Beach now offering pizza box disposal bins on the boardwalk

"Pizza is a staple of a beach diet," a city of Rehoboth Beach Facebook post says. Facts.

But if you've enjoyed a pizza in Rehoboth Beach, there's a good chance you've also spent some time trying to fit the box into an overly full trash can. So the city is trying something innovative: pizza box disposal bins.

There are 96 trash cans on the beach and 78 on the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, city spokesperson Lynne Coan said. They're emptied three times a day, yet, at this time of year, people looking to properly dispose of trash often find them full.

So when Public Works Director Henry Matlosz saw pizza disposal bins on a recent trip to Ocean City, New Jersey, Coan said, he knew Rehoboth had to have them.
