Sandbag locations open across Louisiana ahead of Tropical Storm Francine
LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Ahead of Tropical Storm Francine’s expected landing on Wednesday, Sept. 11, several parishes have opened sandbag locations.

Lafourche Parish
A self-fill sandbag location will open at the Public Works Barn at 1219 Henry S. Thibodaux St. starting Monday, Sept. 9.
The following sandbag locations are also open, and will stay open until further notice.
Lafourche Fire District #3 Central Station at 17462 West Main, Galliano.
Oak Ridge Community Park in Golden Meadow.
Lockport Field Office at 6236 Highway 308 in Lockport.
Raceland AG Grounds Parking Lot on Texas Street.
Thibodaux Field Office at 2565 Veterans Blvd.
Bayou Blue Recreation Grounds on Highway 316 South of Highway 182.
Choctaw Field Office at 122 Choctaw Barn road.
Bayou Bouef Bridge on Highway 307.
Chackbay Fair Grounds on Highway 304.
Under the bridge on Bridge Road at the intersection with Bayou Road in Des Allemands.
The end of Fairway Drive in Thibodaux.
The end of Manchester Manor Road in Thibodaux.
At field office locations, 25 prefilled bags will be available per address for elderly and disabled people.
Entergy Louisiana preps for potential tropical weather event
Orleans Parish
New Orleans City Councilmember Eugene Green announced that sandbag filling and distribution will be available at the following two locations in District D from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
Gentilly – St. Leo the Great at 2916 Paris Ave.
Upper 9th Ward – 3300 Florida Ave.
Further information provided by officials with the City of New Orleans stated that an additional four locations will also be available for sandbag filling and distribution.

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government officials announced sandbags would be brought to the parish’s low-lying area and that location will be open by the end of the day on Monday, Sept. 9.

A prefilled sandbag station will be reserved for elderly residents and residents with disabilities. There is a limit of 15 prefilled bags per vehicle.
Bags are available at the designated site at 1860 Grand Caillou Rd. Use the side road between the Public Works yard and Last Island Hardware (Old Shannon Hardware) and pick up bags at the side gates.
Sandbags will be available at the following dates and times:
Monday, Sept.9 from 2p.m. to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
St. John the Baptist Parish
Locations will be open Monday, Sept. 9 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Residents are being asked to bring their own shovels to all locations.
Pre-filled bags will be available for the elderly and disabled at 425 Captain G. Bourgeois in LaPlace. There is a limit of 10 bags per person.
St. James Parish
Sandbag locations will open beginning at 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9. Resident should bring their own shovel.

St. Charles Parish
In preparation for the storm, sandbag locations will open for St. Charles Parish residents at the East and West Bank Bridge Parks beginning the afternoon of Monday, Sep. Residents should only take what they need and bring their own shovels.
Tangipahoa Parish
Tangipahoa Parish officials released a list of open self-serve sandbag locations. Residents will have to bring their own shovels.
“We encourage anyone who has had an issue with flash flooding or flooding following extended rain events to please come out and pick up sandbags,” said Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller.
