Santana sac fly lifts Twins past Rangers

ARLINGTON, TX (KELO) — Carlos Santana’s ninth inning sac fly and a strong pitching performance helped the Twins edge the Rangers 3-2.

Twins starter Bailey Ober allowed two runs in the first inning on an Adolis Garcia single and a Josh Jung sac fly.

Minnesota responded in the second. Willi Castro hit a solo homerun to cut the lead in half.

Then Kyle Farmer tripled to center and scored on the same play following a Texas error.

The pitchers settled in from there keeping both teams scoreless into the ninth.

That’s where Santana’s sacrifice fly allowed Matt Wallner to score, handing the Twins the lead.

Jhoan Duran tallied the save with two strikeouts in the ninth.

Ober pitched six innings allowing two runs on seven hits. Jorge Alcala earned the win in relief.
