Saturday Kitchen viewers have praised the show's Pride-themed episode.

The popular BBC cooking show hosted a culinary Pride party to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community on Saturday (June 1).

Hosted by Matt Tebbutt, the special episode saw chefs Gurdeep Loyal, Samantha Evans, Shauna Guinn and Paul A. Young serve up an array of colourful dishes and talk about their experiences, in honour of Pride month.

During the show, viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the "joyous" episode, with one writing: "As a straight 63 year woman, all I can say is that today's #SaturdayKitchen is an absolute & utter joy. Well done to all."

Another added: "Soaking up the positive vibes. Especially the love and inclusivity on #SaturdayKitchen this week. Here's to love and acceptance for all," alongside a heart emoji.

A third wrote: "I've never shed a tear watching a cookery show before, however kudos to @SaturdayKitchen #saturdaykitchen for a #pridemonth edition that went beyond virtue-signalling into education. If only LGBT+ kids of 70s/80s had witnessed something similar."

"Thank you @SaturdayKitchen for such an uplifting Pride theme to the show today. The stories throughout made me emotional and so proud. What great guests and a positive message. Well done," commented another fan.

Strictly Come Dancing star Layton Williams also made an appearance during the episode, where he revealed how his performances on the dancing show helped him come to terms with his sexuality.

"It was one of those situations where if I had the opportunity, I go could go out there and millions of people were watching, so why can't I throw on a cheeky wig and look like a vampire? Why can't I throw on this afro and just have fun?" he said.

On his partnership with professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin, Layton added: "I knew I wanted a guy because quite frankly, I wanted to be thrown around and to wear fabulous costumes!"

Saturday Kitchen airs on BBC One.
