Second juvenile suspect charged in deadly shooting of Kansas City restaurant owner

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A second juvenile arrested in connection to the shooting and killing of Kansas City restaurant owner Shaun Brady is now charged.

Jackson County Juvenile Court officials announced the second juvenile suspect was charged on Friday with second-degree murder and attempted stealing and is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Sept. 4.

The first teen suspect arrested was charged Thursday and appeared in court on Friday. He will remain in custody until his next hearing on Sept. 25.

Brady, 44, died after the incident that happened around 5:15 p.m., on Wednesday near 63rd and Rockhill Road. Kansas City police say they found him shot behind a restaurant. Emergency responders took Brady to a hospital, but he died from his injuries.

Investigators say he was taking out trash when he saw a group of people by a vehicle. Police say witnesses told them Brady was trying to stop someone from breaking into the vehicle when he was shot.

The two suspects have not been identified and may not be identified unless they’re charged as adults.
