Sheridan Smith drama follow-up confirms air dates with new lead
Channel 5 has confirmed the air dates for season 2 of The Teacher — and it's not far off.
The 2022 miniseries starred Sheridan Smith as a teacher accused of having sex with her 15-year-old pupil, but when it comes back on Monday, September 9, it'll have a new lead.
The new season will follow Dani Osborne, a teacher played by former EastEnders star Kara Tointon. She gets wrapped up in a murder conspiracy, one that threatens her marriage as well as her job.

The other two confirmed cast members for season 2 (so far) include two faces familiar to soap fans: Hollyoaks' Emmett J Scanlan, also known for Kin and Fool Me Once; and Coronation Street's Will Mellor, also known for Mr Bates vs the Post Office and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. Emmett is playing Dani's husband, while Will is starring as Jimmy, a fellow teacher.
Season 2 will follow season 1's lead, with all four episodes airing nightly over the same week.

The official synopsis reads: "The Teacher II follows the story of Dani, a teacher who loves her job. She's a real mentor and inspiration to her students, but what she lacks is a properly functioning marriage with real intimacy and mutual desire.
"This leads her into an impulsive affair with a fellow colleague that at first answers all her needs, but soon spirals out of control. When a pupil goes missing on a school trip, Dani rightly blames herself for being too easily distracted.
"When things start to take a sinister turn, she is forced to lie and quickly finds her life falling to pieces. She risks everything to right the wrongs that she has, in part, been responsible for."
