Springfield restaurant closing after less than one year being open
An up-and-coming Springfield restaurant is shutting its doors for good. After opening in October 2023, the upscale diner Twisted Fork announced the final day of operation at the restaurant would be on June 5. Owners Amanda and Jered Sandner thanked the community for the restaurant's support while it was open and made references to future ventures on a Facebook post announcing the closure May 31.
“We hope to see you some time in the future as we seek to continue our passion of providing memorable experiences and delicious food for our community,” the social media post by the business said. “Thank you all so much for your love and support.
The Sandners did not mention the reason for closure of the business or how many employees will be impacted by the closure. Calls to the diner went unreturned Monday.

“If you are hiring, we ask that you consider bringing on anyone from this team,” the Sandners said. “They are truly top-notch.”
The restaurant fills the historic St. Nicholas Apartments, originally the Saint Nicholas Hotel, at 400 E. Jefferson St. serving anything from homestyle mac and cheese to big burger horseshoes or meatloaf – Americana big diner style.
Before Twisted Fork occupied the location, the space had been vacant since 2022 when Nu-Voh, a private dining bar, closed in the spring of that year.
