Taylor Swift asks Swifties to vote on Super Tuesday. Who has she endorsed?
Taylor Swift encouraged fans to vote on Super Tuesday.
"Today, March 5, is the Presidential Primary in Tennessee and 16 other states and territories," the Grammy-winning artist wrote in her Instagram story. "I wanted to remind you guys to vote the people who most represent YOU into power. If you haven't already, make a plan to vote today."
"Whether you're in Tennessee or somewhere else in the US," she continued, "check your polling places and times at vote.org."
Swift has a reputation for getting voters to the polls. Last year on National Voter Registration Day, a record 35,000 people signed up through Vote.org after Swift encouraged them in a post.
Has Taylor Swift endorsed a presidential candidate?
Swift has yet to endorse any candidate in the 2024 presidential election despite encouraging fans to vote.
A record of more than 30,000 people registered through Vote.org during National Voter Registration last September after Swift made an Instagram post urging people to do so.
While new voter registrations aren't expected to impact the presidential race, the outcome of several 2022 U.S. House races were determined by less than 1,000 votes, including Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert who won her 2022 reelection in Colorado by 546 votes.
Who did Taylor Swift endorse in 2020?
In 2020, the "Cruel Summer" singer endorsed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and encouraged "Swifties" to make their own voices heard by voting. She also said she regrets her lack of involvement in the 2016 election, when former president Donald Trump won his first term.
The GOP frontrunner issued an appeal to Swift last month not to endorse the president this year's race adding that "Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will."
What states are holding primary elections on Super Tuesday?
The states holding primaries or caucuses for one or both parties include: Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia.
The American Samoa is also holding its Democratic caucus tonight where 11 delegates are up for grabs. While residents of the U.S. territory are not eligible to vote in the general election on Nov. 5, 2024 residents have a say in who they want to represent their party.
