Reserve teen charged in weekend Bourbon Street homicide

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A 17-year-old has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a man on Bourbon Street over the weekend.

The New Orleans Police Department reports that on Saturday, Aug. 10, officers were flagged down near the corner of Bourbon and St. Louis streets where a person had been shot.

Andre K. Preston, 26, was found lying on the ground. He was taken to a hospital by EMS where he later died.

An autopsy performed by the Orlean Parish Coroner’s Office determined Preston’s cause of death was gunshot wound-related.

An investigation led detectives to identify Jakoz King, of Reserve, as the suspect.

Death of St. Charles Parish jail inmate under investigation

On Monday, Aug. 12, with the help of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, NOPD officers said an arrest warrant was obtained for King, and he was arrested. He will remain in the parish as a fugitive.
