Teen injured after car crashes into New Orleans East home, man arrested

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after a car crashed into the bedroom of a New Orleans East home on Sunday, Aug. 25.
The New Orleans Police Department reported that officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Cerise Avenue and Chef Menteur Highway around 4 a.m.

At the scene, NOPD officers said they found an SUV that had crashed into a fence and into the bedroom of a home.
According to police, a 15-year-old boy was sleeping in the room at the time of the crash. He was taken to a hospital and was last reported to be in critical condition.
NOPD officials said the driver of the SUV, identified as 53-year-old Cedrick Marshall, allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was arrested at the scene.

According to the NOPD, Marshall was taken to a hospital and will be booked on charges of first-degree vehicular negligent injury and reckless operation once released.
The crash remains under investigation, and no other injuries were reported.
