Terrebonne Parish man arrested on accusations of sexually abusing children

TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Chauvin man was arrested in Terrebonne Parish after being accused of sex-related crimes involving an underage victim.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested 54-year-old Billy Ray McLin following an investigation into a sexually motivated incident involving a victim under the age of 13.
According to deputies, on June 30, they were alerted of the alleged incident that happened at a home in the 4900 block of Bayouside Drive. Detectives met the victim who disclosed details of the crime, including sexual abuse that had happened over three years.
Further investigation revealed two additional victims, both under the age of 11, who reportedly identified McLin as their alleged abuser.
Special Victims Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for McLin, who had been taken in for questioning. Detectives said he appeared to be suffering from medical issues and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Upon his release, on July 2, McLin was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of first-degree rape and molestation of a juvenile under the age of 13.
As a part of the ongoing investigation, on Aug. 9, McLin was arrested on additional related charges.
He remains in jail on a bond set at $3,001,000.
