TGCSO arrests fourth theft ring suspect, makes large property recovery

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office executed a dual search warrant on Wednesday, Feb. 7, that resulted in the arrest of the fourth member of a crime ring plaguing the Concho Valley and the large-scale recovery of several items.

The search warrant was simultaneously executed in the 1300 block of E 28th Street and the 4000 block of Herbert Road in San Angelo, two properties that were associated with San Angelo resident and suspected crime ring member Thomas Tellez.

During the execution of the warrant, the Sheriff’s Office recovered a number of items that were reported to be stolen. Following the execution of the search warrant, investigators garnered new information that led to the recovery of additional stolen items.

Below is a list of the recovered items as provided by the Sheriff’s Office:

  • A backhoe

  • A skid steer

  • Six trailers

  • Two utility vehicles

  • Firearms

  • A suppressor

  • A welder

  • A trailered compressor

  • A utility tractor

Tellez, age 44, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 13, for Theft Property >=$150K<$300K, a second-degree felony. His bond was posted at $100,000, and he has since bailed out.

This remains an open investigation and the Sheriff’s Office is still actively trying to identify more stolen property.  As of this date, the Sheriff’s Office has recovered or was instrumental in recovering a reported $380,000 worth of stolen property from Tom Green and surrounding counties.  As the investigation continues, additional charges may be forthcoming.
