NEED TO KNOW
Study finds 3,000+ food packaging chemicals in humans
A new study suggests that over 3,600 chemicals from food packaging leach into food while going through the supply chain and end up in the human body, potentially posing health risks.
What it found: Seventy-nine of those chemicals have been connected to health concerns, including cancer, genetic mutations, endocrine issues and reproductive complications. [CNN]
What to know: A co-author of the study said most of the chemicals come from plastic food packaging but that recycled paper and cardboard could also lead to chemicals from ink making contact with food. [Washington Post]
Next steps: Experts said that more testing and regulations are needed to determine just how harmful the chemicals found in the study are and enact safeguards. Until then, they suggested taking certain steps to avoid exposure. [Yahoo Life]

3 QUESTIONS
...about Dancing With the Stars Season 33
Dancing With the Stars is back tonight. I asked entertainment reporter David Artavia, who’s covering the new season, to tell us what to look for.
Lily: Who do you think could take home the mirror ball trophy this time?
David: I’m laser-focused on actress Tori Spelling as well as Olympians Stephen Nedoroscik and Ilona Maher. DWTS is always full of surprises, but I’ve got a feeling they have what it takes to go the distance.
Lily: What has Bachelorette lead Jenn Tran said about joining DWTS after her difficult season?
David: Despite having no prior dance experience, Tran is embracing the challenge — heartbreak and all. In fact, she recently said that heartbreak is “the best motivator for success.”
Lily: What should I expect from these first dances?
David: Week 1 routines usually feature the cha-cha, foxtrot, waltz or tango. One of my favorite Week 1 dances ever was this routine by JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson, who were the first same-sex pairing in the show’s history.
Who else is competing this season? Here’s a full list of the dance pairings.
