Turnpike chase: Driver arrested after going over 100 mph

TRUMBULL COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) — Troopers have arrested a person caught driving at high speeds on the Ohio Turnpike Saturday afternoon, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.
A trooper attempted to make a traffic stop around 2 p.m. near mile post 209 in Braceville Township after observing a driver going 91 mph. However, the individual driving a Nissan Altima with a New Jersey plate did not pull over.

Instead, the driver tried to get away, moving up to speeds over 100 mph, according to OSHP.
Stop sticks were reportedly placed on the road around mile post 182, which did successfully stop the driver’s vehicle. The chase ended with the 33-year-old driver being taken into custody.

They are currently at Portage County Jail, OSHP said, and charges are pending.
